MAKASSAR – Raja Ali Haji Maritime University (UMRAH) and Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) agreed to collaborate. The signing of the cooperation agreement was carried out in the UNHAS Rector’s Room, Lt. 8 UNHAS Rectorate Building, Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar. Friday (18/12).
The cooperation between the West Indonesian and East Indonesian campuses was realized by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) which was carried out by the two university leaders, UMRAH Rector, Prof. Dr. Agung Dhamar Syakti, S.Pi, DEA and UNHAS Rector, Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA
Regarding the collaboration, UMRAH Rector Prof. Dr. Agung Dhamar Syakti, S.Pi, DEA explained the scope of the collaboration.
“The collaboration we have with UNHAS is a collaboration in the field of Higher Education Tridharma. Of course this is a form of strengthening UMRAH in implementing the Tridharma of Higher Education itself, be it in the fields of education, research, and community service “, said Prof. Agung
“The most important thing is that the cooperation we establish is primarily in the framework of strengthening Indonesia as a World Maritime Axis”, said Prof. Agung who is also a Professor in the field of Marine Pollution and Bioremediation
According to him, the Tridharma of Higher Education is a reference for the academic community to take a role in developing maritime conceptions. Education, Research and Community Service are a reference for the academic community to move forward in building maritime affairs. As an incubator, Higher Education has a role to be able to support the government in maritime development
“I agree with the main programs to realize Indonesia as a world maritime axis, namely by enforcing the sovereignty of the Indonesian sea area, strengthening and developing maritime connectivity, revitalizing economic and marine sectors, rehabilitating environmental damage and conserving biodiversity, and improving quality and quantity of marine human resources “, said Prof. Agung.
“From here, our role as universities is needed to participate in the effort to realize Indonesia as the world’s maritime axis. However, to make this happen, there is a need for synergy between the government, agencies and institutions. And this is what we do together with UNHAS in the future, “he added.
“Joining research related to maritime affairs in the Riau Islands region is one of our targets. We will try to lead UNHAS doctoral students to conduct research in the Riau Islands region, ” Prof. Agung explained one of the concept of the cooperation that was established with UNHAS.
In the signing of the MoU, the UMRAH Rector was accompanied by the Dean of the UMRAH Faculty of Marine and Fisheries Sciences, Dr. Ir. T. Ersti Yulika Sari, S.Pi, M.Si
