Dompak – Rector of Raja Ali Haji Maritime University, Prof. Agung Dhamar Syakti inaugurated 378 graduates in the open senate session of the XVI Undergraduate Graduation Academic year 2020-2021 which was held online and offline. Tuesday, (30/5/2021)

In a speech before the Senate, graduates and all invited guests, Prof. Agung wanted every UMRAH graduate to be a professional and cultured person.

He said that as a university graduate who upholds the values ​​of Malay culture, UMRAH alumni must be able to set a good example and be able to maintain the good name of the alma mater.

“We also hope that the graduates can work on the foundation of the spirit and ethics of Gurindam 12, as has been bequeathed by our national hero Raja Ali Haji,” said the Rector.

The Rector who is proficient in playing the guitar hopes that UMRAH scholars are ready to work in various fields of profession, science and expertise without having to be uprooted from his moral identity as an Indonesian, with a distinctive character of Malay culture.

“The proverbs say. If we don’t have money we lose something. But if we lack character, we lose everything. I hope that all UMRAH graduates will always maintain the good name of the alma mater with the character of Tamaddun, “asked Agung.

On the same occasion, the Governor of Riau Islands who is also the Chairman of the UMRAH Advisory Council, Ansar Ahmad in his remarks advised that alumni not only think about waiting for civil servant vacancies.

“Don’t think that graduating from college is just thinking about becoming a freelance daily worker in the Provincial Government or waiting for the vacancy of the Civil Service Candidate Test. However, train yourself to be a new entrepreneur and a new spirit to develop a region through various fields and become a community companion, ”said Ansar.

At the XVI Graduation Ceremony, UMRAH graduated 5 best graduates with cum laude honors. As for the details, namely, the Faculty of Engineering from the Informatics Study Program, namely Dwi Kurnia Vionita with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.73. From the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries Sciences, namely the Marine Science Study Program, Nurhasima with a GPA of 3.74

Furthermore, from the Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Mathematics Education Study Program, Agus Suharman, GPA 3.85 who is also a graduate of the top university level. Then, the Faculty of Economics from the Accounting Study Program, namely Burhan Latif with a GPA of 3.80. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences from the Public Administration Study Program, Tias Nanda Sari with a GPA of 3.73.

As many as 378 people have successfully passed the 2020-2021 academic year. FKIP as many as 119 graduates, FIKP as many as 49 graduates, FT as many as 47 graduates, FE as many as 45 graduates, and FISIP as many as 118 graduates.

Especially at this graduation, UMRAH in particular received congratulations from the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia, General (Ret.) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Nadiem Anwar Makarim who was represented by the Director of Learning and Student Affairs of the Directorate General of Higher Education Prof. Aris Junaidi.
